Poland, 1939 year. Marek dreams of going to Venice-the city to which
his family goes every year. He knows by heart the names of the most
important streets and squares, as well as monuments. He believes that
this year he will finally see them with his own eyes. Instead, parents
call him on a vacation to aunt Weronika, with a difficulty maintaining
the palace in the deplores over the Dniest. Soon after, the war breaks
out and the rest of the family-mostly women, as men go to the front. The
kids are trying to organize their time. Because the water floods the
basement, they build a little Venice there.
