The heroine of the story is sixteen-year-old Terezka, who still has a child's worldview, but also an exceptional fantasy. She leaves the orphanage, where she was trained as a seamstress and where everything was so simple, because others made decisions for her. She decides to go to the capital to find her mother, who has not shown interest in her for years. A wonderful journey through the whole of Slovakia is not only an emotional education, but also Terezka's test of adulthood. He experiences situations from grotesque to absurd and carefully records them all in an old blind map. The real story intertwines with dreams and is filled with playful humor.

Stockholm. Present day. Thirteen-year-old Sixten and his overprotective night bus driving dad live alone together in an apartment in Aspudden. It is soon school completion and Sixten is forced to wear ski pants at school, because his father has not had the washing machine repaired in several weeks and there is not much more that is clean at home. At school, Sixten is teased by the rotten egg Bobbo and his friends and gets into a fight on the way home. He is comforted by his friend Emma, who may also be his girl, and explains a pork lip to his father by the fact that he played football.
