The young couple Maria and Jan live together with their daughter in a small village in Thuringia. After Maria becomes unemployed, she takes a job as a cook in a Hotel in Berlin.. Love affairs on both sides put the marriage that has become a weekend relationship to the test. Ultimately, the couple decides for each other and starts a new beginning. Maria takes over the Inn of the village.
