Laurin (1989)

Laurin (1989)

Nine-year-old Laurin grew up around 1900 in a small port town as the daughter of the sailor Arne, who often spent months away from home. When one night, after a long walk, her mother loses her balance on a bridge whose rail is failing, she drowns in the freezing water. Although everyone assumes an accident, Laurin has been plagued by bizarre dreams and visions ever since. Two years later, Van Rees, the minister's son, returns from military service, and takes a job as a teacher of the village. Laurin is now living with her grandmother Olga, and close friends with her classmate Stefan, who soon seems to get along with Van Rees. The calm seems to have returned, but Laurin's terrifying dreams and visions suddenly return.
