Havana, mid-20th century. Simon, an unscrupulous hard-ass, is moving emigrants to New York, although before arriving he leaves them to their fate to avoid being caught by the coast guard. One day, his boat is intercepted by the police and, on the flight to Cuban territorial waters, Simon suffers an accident. Andrew saves his life and, in the process, falls in love with Mary, a young woman who is under Simon's protection. Andrew and Mary will try to flee to New York, but Simon will not make it easy for them...
