The twelve-year-old Mai lives in Munich with her mother Julia, a successful opera singer. She never met her father, and she was always told by her mother that they both manage well alone. It's all the more so when Julia opens up to her one day, that she wants to marry her boyfriend, who already moves in with his sons. May rebel against it and wants to move out of Protest to her father. She annoys her mother until she finally agrees-convinced that the daughter will return to her after 24 hours at the latest.
