The first of a series of twelve episodes of the producer Renzo Rossellini Jr. son of the great director, Roberto, broadcast by the TV between 1970 and 1971. Throughout the series, deals with the analysis of the human condition on Earth in different historical periods, divided into themes in each episode. The common thread is the suffering of the man on her planet, its the eternal struggle for survival. It starts from the beginning of its appearance, from prehistoric times extending up to our days, and even the future of western civilization. In this episode we talk about, in particular, of the first men that were forced to seek shelter in the caves by the frost of the ice age and, after the discovery of fire, their condition of life begins to improve. Created the first forms of worship: worship of the dead, totetismo, etc.. When finished the last period of the ice age, the man left the caves and built the first villages: the birthplace of the organization of social life.
