We are in Norway in the late 50th century, and it is not easy to relive puberty when almost everything surrounding sexuality and feelings and is a sin! Maria has firsthand knowledge of this, for her father is actually a priest. Maria is tired church-going life - she wants to be with "normal" children, and party, go to the beach, swim, get a boyfriend, make out a little and maybe have sex! Most of these are accompanied his father unthinkable! Thus, father and daughter on full collision course, a war that his father could not possibly win without great skill and insight. Sadly missing father both, he is more concerned about his love for the church and congregation than his family!
