Turin, in the early 50s. The Cold War, the trial of the Rosenberg
spouses, the protests against Christian Democracy. It was in this
climate that Anna spent her childhood with her mother, Lidia, the widow
of a partisan who died in the war. Lidia is a communist, with a
foolproof militancy. And there are many trials for activists of
left-wing parties. Lidia works as an employee in a large company. She is
a brave trade unionist, able to stand up alone against the bosses, in
the midst of generally submissive employees.
