"Os Humores Artificiais" is a film about humor, anthropology and artificial intelligence. It focuses on humor as central to human relationships, form of social control, and one of the most complex forms of communication. The film was shot in Mato Grosso (in Canarana, and in the villages of Yawalapiti and Kamayura, located in the Xingu Indigenous Park) and São Paulo. Mixing a certain Hollywood aesthetic with typical approaches to documentary recording, the film tells the journey of an Indigenous young woman who falls in love with a robot who is an emerging stand-up comedian in Brazil. Gabriel Abrantes ' film addresses historical, political and social issues, while discussing post-colonial, gender and identity issues. His work creates layers of unusual readings, altering traditional narratives and bringing out absurdity, folklore, humor and politics.
