After a failed reading at a university, writer Charles Serking quickly escapes back into his own world – that of the pubs and get off of Los Angeles. His acquaintance with the sexually aggressive Vera ends at the police station. The relationship with his Ex-wife Vicky is characterized by paternalism and violence. The acquaintance in a Bar with the prostitute Cass inspires him to write again.
