The eleven-year-old Ilse, the youngest in the family, noted early on that life is connected with special difficulties. On the edge of a North German village to be felt in the economic miracle a few years, and, lives, Ilse with her mother and two brothers in the parish house. Ilse's everyday life determine experiences between the village school and the woodshed, your little getaway, as well as gossip with the shopkeepers in secret smoke at the dump. Ilse soon realises that you can't trust the adults and out-of-town you are in search of a sense of security to the other end of the village to their grandmother.
