Verona, 1970. The young Sergio is an only child and is very much loved by his parents, he has no friends but is endowed with an imagination so fervent that it allows him to have fun alone. Things began to change for him when, during a summer spent in the countryside, mom and dad announced that he would soon have the company of a little brother. Sergio is upset and afraid of losing the idyllic life that he has led so far, so he begins to fantasize about the various ways in which he could eliminate the coming baby. Unfortunately the mother loses the child waiting and Sergio is attacked by guilt because convinced that the responsibility is his. Haunting images throughout the brother 'ghost' begin to persecute him until Sergio learns to accept the presence and the two become inseparable companions for the duration of the holiday. At the end of the summer, Sergio abandons his imaginary friend who, a few years later, however, shows up again.
