Adaptation has received in Germany the huge popularity of the autobiographical bestseller by Sabine Kuegler. In the early 80-ies of XX century, the German linguist Klaus Kuegler with his wife and three children sent to the jungles of New Guinea, where he studies the language of a recently discovered indigenous tribe. Unlike other members of the family eight-year-old Sabina quickly mastered and assimilated many of the customs and knowledge of the natives. However, peacefully living their lives the family is totally unaware that she was in the heart of tribal enmity. Despite a mutual desire to stay away from each other, the way strangers and natives over time, start to overlap. After nine years already seventeen-year-old Sabina is forced to leave New Guinea and goes to boarding school in Switzerland, where she again meets completely alien to the world with its complexities and conflicts.
