Paul et Virginie (1974)

Paul and Virginie is the novel of a romance. The idyll of two children that a common fate brought together in one universe. Paul was the natural son of Marguerite, daughter of Breton peasants, abused by a gentleman and forced to hide his guilt "from the colonies". Virginie, on the other hand, was the daughter of Madame de la Tour, whom her husband, "death of the pestilential fevers", left widowed and soon mother on the banks of an island lost in the Indian Ocean.

De Rode zwaan (1999)

After years of living in France, grandfather Jakob returns to his home. He bought the house, and his grandson Jakob is coming over for the fall break to help fix it up. When Grandpa slips out of the house and gets hurt, an elderly lady from the neighborhood takes care of him. The lady turns out to be the girl next door from Grandpa's childhood. She tells Jakob about Grandpa's Red Swan, a wooden toy animal that he always had with him and about which he now calls in his feverish dreams of everything. Because Grandpa lost the Red Swan once, Jacob decides to look for him in the hope that this will make Grandpa better. Just starting his search, Jacob ends up in a "fairy-tale world", where he meets the girl Neeltje. Together they have exciting adventures with "the Wood people"and" the Carp men". Jakob and Neeltje are doing everything they can to find the Red Swan, and it turns out grandpa's stories can help...
