Prague in the fifties. An ordinary family falls apart under the heavy, suffocating pressure of communism. The little Marushka is a normal girl with a huge imagination that is not the law leaves prescribe. Her free way of thinking is not appreciated by her grandparents and mother, who are barely to her care. Therefore, she is raised by her beloved uncle, who is just as open-minded as Marushka. This brings the family, however, in the problems.
