Paris in early 1944. Fernand Bonnard, director of the National Museum of Natural History receives his son Arman and his little girl Philippines. After a quarrel, Armand hand, in the middle of the night and stopped by a German patrol. His father, helpless, watching die like a coward. The old man can not bear to tell the truth of the Philippines, the daughter of Armand. He tells him that he is the leader of the resistance, the perfect excuse to call the girl in the games of soldiers, pretending to be involved in the actions of Armand. When the Philippine discovers that his father is dead, she keeps a secret so as not to cause stress in his grandfather.
